vista installation issues
(If setup becomes non-responsive), do a cold boot, Start the computer, when the Windows Boot Manager is displayed, select Windows Setup press F8 on your keyboard and setup should continue. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Is this before Vista copies files or after? I am referring to after, you should still be able to boot Vista into safe mode with the same instructions. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I have the same problem with a black screen. In safe mode it continues to install. Yet when it restarts again same problem. Booting in VGA mode helps though so it seems to be the video drivers. I tried installing the newer drivers and they do not result in a black screen. Unfortenately they do cause a BSOD ;)
I'll file a bug report with ATI and MS. ATI didn't list this problem in the known issues (unlike the black screen problem; which is listed as "resolved" in the newer drivers).
It's an ATI X1600 Pro (AGP).

Thank you so much Mart, I had the same exact problen you are having, I've been struggling over this for weeks now looking for someone to figure out the problem, I'm using the same exact ATI Graphics Card as you, and installed the Vista drivers before the setup, and vista installed like a pro. -- Kyle
